How iRacing’s new NASCAR qualifying Could Spell Disaster For IWCGPS

iRacing have always been looking at ways to improve their biggest series and some of the big issues have always surrounded qualifying. Major debate on how many people should get in, what parameters should surround it and in-championship squabbles have always been a thing, however iRacing is not one to give favouritism over one series or another. So when the NASCAR Peak Antifreeze Series document dropped this week, I took some time to decipher it and found a lot of trouble for the iRacing World Championship Grand Prix Series moving forward.

To save you readers a lot of time, I am going to briefly summarise the NPAS document in full:

Iberica Racing Team Lose 10 Men

Arguably one of, if not the biggest sim racing team in Spain today has just seen ten of its members walk away this morning. The news broke on twitter as star after star announced their leave including the likes of Nestor Garcia Jr., Aday Coba, Pablo “Go Pro” Lopez and many others. I have seen a lot go on in my time of Sim Racing and not much has gone on to top this announcement.

Iberica for the longest time have been a cornerstone of sim racing. Their most famous period came in an era before mine during the early to mid 2010’s and saw a lot of drivers rise to a high level of stardom. Slowly though over the last two years, their influence had been on the decline as they moved away from the iRacing World Championship Grand Prix Series into what had been at the time an up and down struggle to remain inside of the Blancpain Endurance Championship. eROC: Simply Put, An Incredible Idea

The Race of Champions has been a staple of racing for a number of years now as all of the very best in motorsport get invited to drive some of the best vehicles and see dream races one on one that normally you wouldn’t get. For the first time ever, and some would say rightfully so, the Race of Champions will have sim racing and I am very excited to see how this will go.

Normally I would be the type of person who sits on the side of caution because of what has happened the last few times people have tried to get involved in sim racing. Continue reading “eROC: Simply Put, An Incredible Idea”

Rallycross GRC: A World Championship Would Be Genius!

Accuse me of jumping the gun but the way that iRacing has just implemented the Red Bull GRC Rallycross series, there are few words that can describe the uplifting of the iRacing community. With panics of Assetto Corsa gaining more concurrent during the day and fears iRacing may have to concede to rFactor2 in road racing, the bar has been well and truly raised in a move that has panic rushed Dirt 4 to bring out clubs and that has almost killed any small momentum Project Cars 2 ever had. While iRacing has a stunning product, there is one tactical move they absolutely must do to use Rallycross as much as possible. They need the Red Bull GRC World Championship Series.

In just the first day of release, everybody jumped on the December 5th build of iRacing Rallycross which saw circuits at Daytona, Phoenix, Lucas Oil and Iowa come into effect with speculations about implementing Brands Hatch as a Rallycross track too.
