iRankings: The Brand New System Of Excellence

The Sim Racing Observer announces today on December 31st a brand new system that will be another way to view who the best in the world is when it comes to the iRacing platform. We introduce the iRankings, the first external points based system which is designed to rank the meta of the road side of iRacing over a one year cycle.

iRacing has the iRating system which works very well in terms of pitting similar talents against each other however there are naturally some gaps with the way iRating is calculated. The iRankings will become a new method of accurately representing some of the best simracing talents in the world. Continue reading “iRankings: The Brand New System Of Excellence”

We are warriors, always searching for the next greatest foe to go an conquer to assert and live forward with a legacy. I know in my lifetime I will never be fast enough to race alongside some of the best drivers in the world and these 100, although they are not the fastest 100 in the world, are the top 100 drivers for a reason.

These are the top 100 iRacing road drivers because they have impressed me with pace, results, determination, a drive to succeed and ultimately have been the 100 drivers to make a real difference this year. Continue reading “Sim Racing Rankings Top 100 Drivers of 2017”

Sim Racing Rankings: Top 50 Teams of 2017

2017 has been in some respects, the year of team racing. Blancpain has attracted more attention, everyone is looking to grab more important drivers and the era now of being in a team is more important than ever. No longer can you legitimately challenge with just your own intellect as you need someone else to accompany for. And with all the team events such as the World Tours, NEO, SCO and so many others, the time is now to get your team on the map. Below are the fifty teams that have impressed me on iRacing this year and hopefully to come in 2017. Continue reading “Sim Racing Rankings: Top 50 Teams of 2017”

Sparey: “You Can’t Judge Simulators Against Each Other.”

Sparey: “You Can’t Judge Simulators Against Each Other.”

I have seen my fair share of simracing but I make it very clear when it comes to the Sim Racing Rankings that the name is just a name and does not encompass all of simracing esports. It is why I only focus on Road/Dirt Road as of early 2017. Even within simulators are different metas such as that between road and oval, to the point where my knowledge of styles of racing doesn’t allow me to permit that area on my rankings.

However today, it was made to my attention that Project Cars has decided to try and create a power ranking system that encapsulates all of simracing, and while I like the concept, it doesn’t work. Continue reading “Sparey: “You Can’t Judge Simulators Against Each Other.””

Why The Majors Will Be The Biggest iRacing League Series

They have not been on a Racespot TV broadcast until this year. They aren’t known by the wider community as being an elite level series but I strongly believe after the statement of intent that the Majors are set to become the biggest league in 2018 short of the iRacing World Championships.

In terms of scope, the Majors have been very lowbrow in what they have done over their last four years. Being simply known as the Pacific Majors or better known as PacMajors, their goal of bringing some great action to iRacing has been forthcoming in a world where there is a lot of leagues which creates a riptide of minor league series. However there has been a statement of intent. Continue reading “Why The Majors Will Be The Biggest iRacing League Series”

Rallycross GRC: A World Championship Would Be Genius!

Accuse me of jumping the gun but the way that iRacing has just implemented the Red Bull GRC Rallycross series, there are few words that can describe the uplifting of the iRacing community. With panics of Assetto Corsa gaining more concurrent during the day and fears iRacing may have to concede to rFactor2 in road racing, the bar has been well and truly raised in a move that has panic rushed Dirt 4 to bring out clubs and that has almost killed any small momentum Project Cars 2 ever had. While iRacing has a stunning product, there is one tactical move they absolutely must do to use Rallycross as much as possible. They need the Red Bull GRC World Championship Series.

In just the first day of release, everybody jumped on the December 5th build of iRacing Rallycross which saw circuits at Daytona, Phoenix, Lucas Oil and Iowa come into effect with speculations about implementing Brands Hatch as a Rallycross track too. Sim Racing Rankings: November 2017

Sim Racing Rankings: November 2017

November is that special month which is the true indicator of pace. The three roads to pro warm up and the leagues of endurance kick back into life while making everyone want to watch for the long future. Many a driver uses the winter to make their developments forward while major companies use it to showcase their forward thinking. Either way you look at it, November has been tough to call.
